When creating a schedule, you can also indicate that clocking data is rounded. In this article, you learn all about the different rounding types and how to use them.

This article is meant to "round out" your knowledge about rounding types in schedules. If you want to learn about schedules in general, please see the following article:

The Schedule page

Interval rounding

With interval rounding, you can have "In" and "Out" clockings rounded to a specified interval. You can define to which interval is rounded.

When rounding this way, you can select to

  • round to the next interval
  • round to the previous interval
  • round to the closest interval

Let's assume you use interval rounding. You want to have all "In" clocking actions rounded to the next 15 minutes. When an employee clocks in at 9:40, the clocking action is rounded to 9:45. If they clock in at 9:47, it is rounded to 10:00.

Alternatively, you could round to the closest 15 minutes. In that case, an "In" clocking of 9:40 would be rounded to 9:45. An "In" clocking of 9:47 would also be rounded to 9:45.

Fixed rounding

With fixed rounding, you can round clockings performed around the start or end time of your schedule. This type of rounding is only available when using a fixed time schedule.

You can indicate up to how many minutes before or after the start or end time a clocking action is rounded. This will round the clocking action to the start or end time.

You have a schedule with a start time of 9:00. You want to have all clocking actions performed up to 30 minutes before the start time to round to 9:00. Under Roundings, you enter 30 minutes before under the start time.

In the same schedule, you have an end time of 17:00. You want all clocking actions that are performed up to 15 minutes after the end time to be rounded to the end time. Under Roundings, you enter 15 minutes after for the end time.

Note: Before you apply automatic rounding rules to your schedules, please check with your local labor laws for any restrictions and rulings!
