I cannot clock in/out with my mobile device. What can I do?

Usually, TimeMoto Cloud lets you record your working hours freely via the time clock, web service or mobile app. What can you do if your mobile clocking doesn't work. This article goes through everything you can check to make it work again.

1) Employee Settings

Check with your manager if you are allowed to perform clocking actions with the mobile app. Anyone with the Privilege of Manager or Unit Supervisor can check this in the employee's settings. If the switch [Allow online clocking] is activated, the employee can use the mobile app to perform clocking actions.

2) Device GPS Settings

Check if your phone has its GPS active. If so, check if it allows TimeMoto to access your GPS. This can be done in your phone's location settings and app permissions. How to access these settings depends on your phone's operating system and type. Instructions can be found online.

3) Geofencing Settings

Did your manager use Geofencing to restrict clocking outside of specific locations? In that case, you can only clock in inside the set radius of said locations. Speak with your manager to find out what that radius is.

Geofencing settings can be adjusted per location in the [Location] settings. They can also be adjusted by default for every clocking location without specified settings in the [General Information] settings.

It is also possible to make an employee unaffected by any Geofencing settings. For this, anyone with the Privilege of Manager or Unit Supervisor can check this in the employee's settings. If the switch [Apply geofencing] is deactivated, the employee can use the mobile app to perform clocking actions without any restrictions.

4) New Location

Are you clocking in from a new location? It is possible that your manager doesn't allow certain employees to register new Locations with mobile clocking actions.

Anyone with the Privilege of Manager or Unit Supervisor can check this in the employee's settings. If the box [Create Locations] is set to "not allowed" (or it is set to default while the default setting under [General Information] is set to "not allowed"), the employee cannot use the mobile app to perform clocking actions at an unknown location.

5) Mobile App Version

Make sure your app is updated to the most recent version. You can check your Google Play Store (for Android users) or the App Store (for Apple iOS users) for possible updates.

6) Re-install Mobile App

If nothing else works, try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it again to ensure there is no corrupted data interfering with the functionality. If this didn't work either, please contact us via the contact form below.
